Upon qualifying to be a registered commercial drone Pilot, Simon sought to obtain insurance as would be expected. It was immediately apparent that the insurance market for drones was wholly under-developed, with very few offerings and very user-unfriendly.
Simon, with his entrepreneurial mindset, spotted an opportunity, and Moonrock Drone Insurance was born. Over the last six years, Moonrock has grown to provide industry leading and award winning policies to the drone industry, offering the most comprehensive drone insurance in the market.

Simon Ritterband is the founder and Managing Director of Moonrock Drone Insurance.
Simon launched the company in 2016 with no background within the insurance or drones market. It was the UK’s first dedicated online platform-based insurance scheme, solely offering policies to the rapidly expanding commercial and consumer drone market. It has since pushed on to become one of the largest drone insurers in this sector. Simon has earned a reputation as an industry leader for drone insurance and currently sits on a number of government and regulator advisory committees for drones which consult with the CAA and Department for Transport.
