We are assisting another consultancy with a retainer role. They are seeking an insurance SME that they can draw down support from to help them with a major multi-line re-insurer client they have.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Act as PA Consulting’s lead insurance advisor for a major global multiline (re)insurer, supporting executive engagement, strategic initiatives, and thought leadership.
  • Partner with stakeholders across regions and functions to provide insights on industry trends impacting global (re)insurance, Lloyd’s, and specialty markets.
  • Guide C-suite and business unit leaders on operational efficiency, underwriting excellence, risk management, and digital transformation.
  • Support delivery and oversight of key projects and proposals/pitches in areas such as digital innovation, data analytics, ESG, regulatory change (e.g., IFRS 17, Solvency II), and commercial product development.
  • Represent PA Consulting at high-level forums, industry events, and in client-facing communications on behalf of the insurer.

  • Executive-level gravitas and the ability to engage credibly with CEOs, Boards, CUOs, and global/regional executives.
  • Analytical and commercial acumen—quickly understanding the insurer’s priorities, external pressures, and internal culture.
  • Pragmatic vision—turning strategic insight into practical business outcomes for a diverse, multi-jurisdictional operation.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Senior Experience at Global Insurers: Ideally 15+ years at executive or strategic advisory level within commercial lines, specialty, and reinsurance (experience with Lloyd’s market highly valued).
  • Multi-Region Perspective: Deep understanding of insurance markets in EMEA, Americas, and APAC, with particular knowledge of regulatory, competitive, and customer trends affecting global multiline and specialty insurers.
  • Operational and Technical Insurance Expertise: Track record in underwriting excellence, claims transformation, pricing, risk management, and actuarial methodologies relevant to commercial and specialty lines.
  • Digital and Data Innovation: Practical experience leading or advising on technology transformation, advanced analytics, AI/ML, digital customer engagement, and insurtech partnerships tailored to commercial insurers.
  • ESG & Regulatory Change: In-depth understanding of ESG drivers in insurance, sustainability reporting, and alignment with evolving regulations such as IFRS 17, Solvency II, and global solvency regimes.
  • Transformation Leadership: Led or supported large-scale operational, digital, or M&A initiatives within complex insurance organizations.
  • Consulting/Advisory Acumen: Proven record of providing successful advice to C-suite clients, with strong stakeholder management and project delivery experience.
  • Professional Presence: Recognized thought leadership in commercial insurance; experience presenting at industry events, in media, and other external forums.

Desirable Experience:

  • Direct exposure to a leading global multiline or specialty insurer (as an employee, advisor, or strategic partner), or to direct competitors with similar business models.
  • A proven network across global specialty, Lloyd’s, and commercial insurance markets.
  • Familiarity with global catastrophe/exposure management, reinsurance structuring, cyber, and emerging risk topics.
  • Insight into customer segmentation, distribution strategy, and broker/agency models relevant to large-scale commercial insurers.

Professional Credentials:

  • ACII, FCII, CPCU, or equivalent insurance/actuarial/risk qualification.
  • Ongoing professional development in relevant regulatory, digital, or commercial insurance fields.
